I am looking to see if there is a way to have linked sections of a project in final cut. Here is what I am trying to do. Let’s say I have a project that includes 3 video’s separated by Titles with effects. I have manually added captions to this project. After I am done I am asked if I can export each of the video’s separately with the captions. I was able to copy the original projects into 3 more projects and just deleted everything that wasn’t the video and it’s captions but they are separate and every-time I need to fix something I need to do it in more than 1 place. I was hoping there was a way to section off parts of the project into smaller projects but have them linked to the original so that they are all working off the same “master” project and edits are carried over. I hope this makes sense.
While Final Cut does not have linked projects, you could try turning the elements you want linked into a Compound clip before creating the duplicate projects. Then the changes you make inside the compound clip will carry over to all other instances of that compound clip in different projects. I would test the workflow before implementing it of course.
