I am currently editing and publishing a youtube channel twice a week. Always shot with a person on white background and the results are always much darker and flatter than in quicktime, or in FCPX.

It’s YouTube’s encoder – you’re going to have to push the color grading into a direction that may not look correct on your display in order to compensate.  I would also contact YouTube support –
