    Hi,

I just received my SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD for external library storage and noticed it’s in the Exfat format.  I’m using a new MacBook Pro M1.  My primary use of FCPX is editing videos for my YouTube channel.  Should I bother to reformat the SanDisk to APFS?

    Best,

    Jonathan

Hello Jonathan.  You should definitely NOT use Xfat – you should reformat the drive to APFS – as this is optimized for SSDs’ and will give you the fastest response when locating, moving, or copying files.

    Hope this helps!
