Learn Powerful End-to-End Post Tools

Editing & Color Grading 101 in DaVinci Resolve 15 will guide you through Resolve’s complete post production workflow. You’ll start by learning best practices for setting up a project and organizing media. From there, you’ll edit and grade a project using the Edit and Color Pages before jumping into the Fusion Page to create motion graphics. We’ll show you how to edit and mix your soundtrack in the Fairlight Page, then output your work in the Deliver Page. In this excerpt, you’ll see how to control the linking behavior of clips in the timeline.

Learn Fast Color Grading Workflows

Once you complete your edit in the Edit Page, you’ll move into the Color Page to normalize your footage, which is to say, improve the dynamic range and color of your clips so they better match one another. You’ll also learn how to perform targeted color corrections using Windows and Qualifiers. And since time is money, you’ll learn valuable tips for quickly applying your grades and corrections to other clips in your timeline.

Create Motion Graphics in the Fusion Page

Fusion is a node-based effects, compositing and motion graphics tool built right into Resolve 15. You’ll begin your journey by learning how to set up multiple trackers for the purpose of stabilizing a shot. Once the shot is stabilized, you’ll add a title and animate it using a Text Modifier. Finally, you’ll apply what you’ve learned so far by tracking text to an object.

Edit & Mix Sound in the Fairlight Page

The Fairlight Page puts professional sound editing and mixing only a click away. You’ll learn how to properly organize a mix and perform basic sound editing tasks including how to repair audio using Fairlight FX. Additionally, you’ll learn how to perform automated dialogue replacement, otherwise known as ADR.

The course is a great overall look at DaVinci. It is an introduction, so it won’t go into too much detail. It is very well structured and offers well prepared training material. If there was anything to nit-pick, it is the narration which sounds a bit monotonous.

I have been a user of Final Cut Pro 7 for years, then migrated to Premiere once FCPX came out. Now that Premiere has become “difficult” I have been looking into Resolve. I purchased this tutorial setup to figure out the editing part of the program. It is incredibly thorough and helped me get up to speed completely. I would definitely recommend this if you are beginning with Resolve.

This is an excellent tutorial with lots of information. I found it was great to go through it and then be able to go back on specific things I wanted to do more practice with.
Be ready with your “pause” button as the material comes to you fast and furious…but then it is such a robust application it’s no surprise. Well worth it.

Being a Certified Avid Media Composer editor who works everyday with editing videos with an NLE, it makes sense I found the editing section as well as other aspects of this course very easy. Of course, this doesn’t mean someone without any experience won’t be able to learn, on the contrary, this course teaches the basics, and most definitely the knowledge needed to pass the Blackmagic Design certification test for DaVinci Resolve. I passed in my first and only attempt taking the test.

Basically, if you want to get the certification, this course won’t overwhelm you with extra knowledge which will make it harder to remember things that won’t be covered in this test.

Great course on the basics of about everything you can do with DaVinci Resolve 15.

It did have a few glitches, like files not named properly (not scene numbers but in stead the original file names), and even an occasional lost title from the DVR 14 course, but this was not of great impedance to following the course which was for the rest very good and well prepared!

I did learn a thing or two :-)! No, actually, many things! A few new tools I never used before on the Edit page; a decent intro to Fusion; a renewed introduction to the Color page.

I’m looking forward to the 202 edition of this course!

Thanks to you all @Rippletraining !
