Explore the Cut Page UI

The Cut Page is DaVinci Resolve 16’s ultra-fast editor for telling your story. Using a dual-timeline interface and some clever new smart editing tools that are unique to the Cut Page, this tutorial authored by Mark Spencer, will teach you how to quickly import, organize, edit, and deliver a finished project.

Intuitive Trim Tools

Trimming is at the heart of video editing, and the Cut Page gives you familiar tools for quickly adding or removing content from your clips. You’ll learn how to use these tools in the context of a dual-timeline interface that presents your clips in both a micro-view and macro-view simultaneously.

Smart Insert Edits

Inserting source clips to your timeline no longer requires the playhead to be parked on an edit point. We’ll show you how to use Resolve 16’s new smart tools to quickly add clips or transitions to the nearest edit point with a click of a button.

Smart Close-Ups

Editing 4K clips into an HD timeline is fairly commonplace in other NLEs. What isn’t commonplace, is doing a 4K punch-in as a close-up with a single mouse click. This tutorial will present many smart editing operations available in the Cut Page that will save you time.

As usual, Ripple Training provides the best walkthroughs of tools and techniques I’ve ever encountered. Given that the Cut page is a new feature in Resolve, I was still able to learn a lot knowing that there will be more changes to the Cut page to come. And knowing Ripple Training will follow up with future training for the Cut page, I will be certainly coming back here for more tutorials. Thanks, Mark. You’re a great teacher.
