Lessons for iMovie is a 21 lesson tutorial that teaches you the essentials of importing, organizing, editing, and sharing movies using Apple’s iMovie software.

Lessons for iMovie

Lessons for iMovie is a tutorial designed to be your essential iMovie learning companion. We do this by breaking down the entire video editing process into a series of short to-the-point lessons. You’ll begin by learning how to import video from your iPhone, GoPro or any other camera, then organize and rate your footage so you can quickly find what you’re looking for in preparation for editing.

You’ll first create a Hollywood-style trailer from the clips you’ve imported, then turn your attention to building a movie, clip-by-clip, that will form the building blocks of your story. Once the story structure is in place, you’ll learn how to shape it using iMovie’s editing commands, then refine it further using the Clip Trimmer and Precision Editor.

We’ll show you how to add sound effects and music to your movie and what tools to use in order to ensure your audio sources don’t compete with one another. You’ll learn how to animate Photos; add and adjust Video Overlay Effects such as Split Screen, Picture in Picture, and Green/Blue Screen effects. If color or exposure needs improving in your shots, we’ll give you the steps for correcting and enhancing them; and how to make your shots better match one another.

You’ll learn how to apply filters and adjust the speed of your videos to create drama, comedy or add visual interest. Since your movies are ultimately meant to be seen, we’ll teach you how to share your movie so they can be played on all your Apple devices and how to publish your movies to video sharing destinations like YouTube and Vimeo. Finally, you’ll learn how to archive your projects or move them to another drive in order to clear up disk space.

After upgrading to iMovie ’10, I was so frustrated, I ordered the disk for version ’09 from Ebay to go back to what I was using before the upgrade. After viewing your tutorial, I’m staying with version ’10. Your tutorial is a masterpiece of “how to” instruction. Prior to viewing it, I was on the internet seeking help from others like myself encountering all kinds of problems figuring out version 10. With your tutorial and Roxio Toast Titanium 15 (to handle the export to DVD difficulties- Apple has abandoned that technology) I now have what I need to accomplish my video editing objectives. Thank you.
