This is great tutorial. I love the way he is explaining the basics of FCPX. This tutorial is a MUST for people that have been certified and toke live classes a long time ago. Its is a great way to renew all the knowledge and keep current with the software. Thanks Steve.

The lessons on keyword collections, tagging, and rating videos saved so much time. Really glad I purchased this training.

Gone through many other tutorials found online (including paid ones), but none of them helped me to understand the dynamics of video editing. This course not just explains the buttons and panels of FCP X, but it helped to get a holistic view on video editing and able to focus on telling a story instead of worrying about how I can edit. Strongly recommend for the newbies like me who have no idea about video editing.

I am getting a lot back from Steve and Mark’s very clear training method and the tutorials have been both enormously helpful and enjoyable. I taught myself FCPX several years ago, but I wanted to go back to the beginning and through the Core Training because I was concerned that I didn’t really know some of the basics and yet had become quite fluid with some of the more advanced features such as Multicam. Although I still feel like a bit of a rookie (!), it is comforting to know that I’m not as naive as I had thought, and now getting quicker and more au fait with shortcuts and organizing than I previously had been.

I discovered RT via YouTube when I was after specific solutions, and I found Steve and Mark to be engaging and informative every time. Online tutorials can often be somewhat dry, but these are anything but. So thank you all! And I look forward to moving on up to another in the near future.

Although I’m tempted to say that I am self-taught in FCPX it isn’t actually true — Steve and Mark have taught me everything I know through their excellent tutorials. I’ve gone from knowing zero to collaborating on a film for local cable television. In fact, in our small team I am considered the “expert” on editing, though this definitely stretches the meaning of “expert”! I’m actually more of a film making hobbyist but that doesn’t mean I don’t invest quite a lot of time (and some money) in my efforts. Because I live too far in the mountains to attend person-to-person classes these tutorials have given me the tools I needed to actually create simple and reasonably well crafted short videos. Another great feature, which isn’t often mentioned in these reviews, is that the tutorials are downloadable. We have very limited satellite internet and I have to download between midnight and 5:00 a.m. to take advantage of free bandwidth at those times. Streaming is out of the question. I have actually edited and recombined some of the Ripple Tutorials to create my own set of favorite Ripple tips for quick reference. Finally, the friendly, personal style of these tutorials is really encouraging — Steve and Mark present the material in a manner that gives me confidence that I can actually learn this complex software and put it to good use.

I have been watching Ripple blogs for years now and I have learned very much from them. I wanted to purchase tutorials to further my learning and give back; everyone should do this! My concern was purchasing tutorials that would only re- teach me what I already learned. But I know that there is always something that you miss no matter how much you know, so I purchased the tutorials as if I was a beginner. I was not disappointed. Ripple not only filled in many blanks, but the fact that they update the tutorials as the App updates and changes is great. If you want to know something well, you learn from those who know it well. The team at Ripple know their sh…shtuff 😝
Thanks for some great tutorials- keep up the great work!

I am a veteran producer, but a newby editor, having only edited previously in iMovie. I felt it was time to learn a real NLE and since my last feature film was edited using FCPX, I decided to learn FCPX using Ripple Training. I have to say I’m very happy with the training. Not only do they do a great job explaining how to use the program and many of its features, but I really like the interface. It’s so easy to keep track of where you are in the tutorial, go back to previous lessons, bookmark parts you want to remember, and keep track of other tutorials you’ve purchased. They clearly spent a lot of care creating a great organizational bucket for their trainings. I had some specific videos I wanted to make in support of my feature film–branded content, trailers, etc–and I was able to do exactly that with this tutorial. I’ve purchased other tutorials and am looking forward to diving into those, too. Thank you, Ripple!

When I started my own youtube channel I was wondering about how to edit videos and what is the best software. I was lucky when I started using FCP X and found this course. Sometimes I feel it saved me months getting ready with software and in about a week I was ready to recommend others using this course. Also great for absolute beginners. Highly recommended from India.

My previous video editing experience was 2 movies in iMovie about 5 years ago. I worked through Ripple’s free FCP tutorial and decided to buy this. I have to say it is an excellent grounding in the application taking you from beginner to being confident and competent at using FCPX. I have experience in photo editing but want to move into producing YouTube videos – I have already produced a channel trailer and am currently in the middle of producing my first proper YouTube video. Without this course there is no way I would have been up to speed so quickly and able to produce something that avoids beginner mistakes thanks to this course. Yes there are cheaper courses on Udemy for example but I tried one of them and had to request a refund. You get what you pay for – well thought out, expert tuition delivered in an engaging and informative manner. Coupled with the numerous tutorials Ripple put on YouTube you will be creating professional videos faster than you thought possible.

I was not new to FCPX when I signed up for this tutorial. I had edited three Prime Video movies based on YouTube tutorials that were, for the most part, helpful. Frankly, though, I felt lucky that I had survived the editing because I could tell there was much I didn’t understand. I felt like the flight attendant in the movie “Airplane 75” who took over pilot duties when the pilots were poisoned.

At the time I didn’t know about Ripple Training. As I recall I found a Motion example on YouTube that mentioned Ripple and I decided to check into it, based on how well the example was presented. I noticed I could sign up for a course on making iPhone movies for $20, so I did. Not much of a risk, right? That sold me on the quality of Ripple’s training. Soon thereafter I signed up for this tutorial (Intro to FCPX), along with several others.

I’ve delivered training in the past and written user guides, but Ripple Training is, in my experience, unsurpassed. FCPX is a powerful editor to say the least, but Ripple has made it quite accessible. The mysteries of FCPX are uncloaked one lesson at a time. There are few if any wasted words. The language is clear and the examples presented are the ones you work with on your own. You can return to any lesson or course anytime you wish for a refresher.

Signing up for Ripple Training is one of the best investments I’ve ever made. If you have any interest in becoming a Mac film editor, I strongly encourage you to look into the tutorials Ripple offers. And by the way, for what it’s worth, I’ll turn 76 in two months.

Very good tutorial, every important tool is covered so that you can quickly start editing great videos. The teaching method is optimal, as you can download the clips used in the tutorial to practice in parallel. I enjoyed the fact that many fields are covered: managing media, rough-cut edits, advanced edits, color correction, retiming, working with audio, etc. I’m not a native English speaker and despite of that, I was really easy for me to understand everything, as Steve Martin quietly explains each topic. I highly recommend!

This is, by far the most comprehensive FCPX training that I’ve come across. Until now, I’ve had to search and sift through various sources to learn how to effectively use FCPX.

However, after completing Final Cut Pro 10.4 Core Training, I really do feel that I have a much better understanding of the mechanics and potential of FCPX and how to effectively put them to use.

Not only is this an invaluable resource for me, it has allowed me to be able to provide a better product to my clients.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Steve Martin, and the Ripple Training Team, for all you do.

    Keep up the great work.

FCPX introductory tutorial in great detail, reasonable price, introduced most of the commonly used features, Steve is very good, concise and humorous. After the appropriate practice can master the basic functions of FCPX, edit out their own video. Later, you should also buy other advanced tutorials to continue learning.
If the player to add subtitles function (refer to Youtube) will be better.

Began this journey with Apple Pro Training Series, Final Cut Pro X 10.1, Professional Post-Production by Brendan Boykin. Awkward and tedious and well worth the time as a STARTER.

Ripple Training and Steve Martin combine to provide a more fluid training session. Steve speaks clearly (Ripple’s video player has speed control that tames Steve’s presentation if needed) and his lesson construction adapts easily once you’ve completed a couple of sessions. ‘Core Training’ is truly an excellent primer for FCPX hopefuls. Ripple has aced the logistics with each lesson revealing another layer of FCPX doables that weave together nicely. A dedicated, day-to-day pace will accelerate you through the basics and satisfy your need for progress. Practical, hands-on keyboard exercises with the lesson video/audio content leaves you with the feeling of accomplishment after each lesson is completed.

There’s more; much more. Here’s the bottom line: Ripple and Steve Martin, via Core Training for FCPX has given me the boost needed to begin tackling my own video/audio projects. There’s confidence waiting in Core Training. Pump your self up and get to editing like a post production intern. Michael W.

I used the FCPX 10.3 Core Training as a refresher course, just before I began to edit a documentary I shot last Summer in France. I discovered several little details that had escaped me the first time I was introduced to FCPX: how keystroke combinations can save a huge amount of time with less mousing around, how to do a 3 point edit to bring in a title at the right length, how to adjust an audio compression filter, etc. The devil is in the details as they say, and instructor Steve Martin has anticipated this — so not only do you learn the larger concepts in the editing software, but the smaller insider tips that can speed you along and make you feel like a pro.

The tutorials are eye-opening and truly reveal the genius of FINAL CUT. I see how the many details of my own enormous project (a 5 camera shoot of a three-hour Broadway-style musical staged last summer that needs to be trimmed to two hours for PBS broadcast AND has to use the Logic Pro X orchestra which I have already synced to the live vocals — that was a task and a half!) can be made not only manageable but also fun to create. The two wide-shot cameras had no audio track (what were they thinking?). But the ability to mark and nudge and tweak in Final Cut makes me think I’ll still be able to use them. Getting it all set up is the first task, and without the tutorials, I’d have had no clue how to best do that! Thank you a thousand times for the insights, practice and and guidance that will make this project doable. It’s going to be beautiful! I love the post-production color adjustment capabilities and the fantastic simplicity of adding text and credits. The multi-cam tutorial is equally helpful and proves I can do what needs to be done to make the most of the video of the show.

Not just how targeted the tutorials are, for both first time editors as well as transitional editors coming in from other programs but also how articulately Steve walks one through the multiple ways of solving editorial problems while leaving the viewer with the choice to make his or her own decisions in solving those issues based on their specific workflow. Love it! Highly recommend it!

I’m about half way through this tutorial and am learning a lot of things that teaching yourself fails to accomplish. Lessons are complete and to the point with plenty of hands on experience with the included downloads. I have found that previewing the section and then watching it over again while pausing it every so often to use the material in my own FCPX copy is working well. There are many things to remember but I don’t get too bogged down with all the keyboard shortcuts just yet- only the ones that I think I’ll use. Well done Steve and company! I’ve also discovered that customer support is good and fast as well.

This is an excellent course. I switched to a Macbook Pro and Final Cut Pro 10.3 after being a PC user for nearly 40 years (started with DOS). I have used a lot of video editors including Vegas Pro 13. I believe Apple has done things right and and I love the new Macbook and FCPX. The Ripple Editing series has made learning the program a breeze. The topics are perfect and the amount of time spent on each is just right. The materials provided to follow along are exceptional and being able to follow and perform the steps to edit have made learning the program a breeze. Don’t misinterpret what I say as watching this once will not make you an expert. Repetition and time will take care of that, but in a short time I felt well equipped to use the program and know the basics. I will definitely be purchasing the Advanced FCPX and Motion 5 tutorials.

Final Cut Pro 10.3 Core Training is an excellent tutorial for anyone who is using or going to use FCPX. I use FCPX for personal use and had purchased the original Core Training tutorial. I know you have put a fair amount of work into producing this latest version but I believe the upgrade cost, even at the discounted price, is too high. It is certainly worth the price if you haven’t already got the original version.
That said, I’m a big fan of Ripple Training. I find the information is organized and delivered in a clear and concise manner. The index at the right always lets me know where I’m at and where I’m going. The placeholder helps during the numerous interruptions.
Thanks, Steve and the rest of the Ripple Training Team.

Final Cut Pro 10.3 Core Training has to be one of the best produced training packages I have used.

This is the best and quickest package to learn all the basic features and more in Final Cut Pro.

    Thanks Ripple Training.

I’ve been using FCP X for a few years now, self taught. As I’ve felt led, I’ve stretched my knowledge and tried stuff out. Some have been successful and others not. How I wish I’d seen this tutorial first! There are things that I have never fathomed that are really straightforward in the tutorial. I’m really glad I came across Ripple and now I’ve got the core training my post-production work is going to really improve. Thanks RT.

There is no wasted word and no wasted second. Great material to work with. The quickest way to get familiar with all new functions of FCPX 10.3. Highly recommended.

I’m a former FCP 7 user, and I was NOT wanting to learn this program! However I knew I had to. Steve is great, and it’s step by step with wonderful training graphics – some of the best I’ve seen with expanded areas when needed, and highlighted enhancements so you can see exactly what is happening. I followed him with each chapter, and then somehow messed up my flow. (gasp) I thought in order to move forward I would have to reconstruct the lesson timeline, and it was just getting good! Then I found out that he has prepared projects for every lesson, so that you can open them and continue, as though you had done everything perfectly! Who does this?

Bottom line. Well done! Well scripted, and even up-to-date. Steve, I don’t know how you can change with the revisions, and still have it almost invisible… great job!

I’m no longer bothered by the new flow from the old Final Cut, and find it very understandable, thanks to Steve holding my hand at every step.

Oh..and the lesson interface is so well laid out. I went back and pickup up missing or forgotten information easily due to a well thought out index of chapters. I’m still in the middle of it and loving it.

So glad I found this site!

The update to FCP core training was excellent. Having only just completed the previous course I found the update consistent and just as informative. Steve gets straight to the point on the refinements made in FCP 10.3 and certainly helped my transition from the previous version.

Worthy of a purchase for both new comers to FCP and those from FCP of the past.

Thank you guys! Great work and great training.

Excellent tutorials, but the discounts are dubious and buying all the tutorials on a low budget is hard, but if you have the money they are the best tutorials you can buy.

I only have one problem at this time with the tutorial. I’m waiting for my new maxed out 15″ 2016 MacBook Pro to arrive!! Destined to have it in my hands in three weeks! I have looked at your Core Training and can’t wait to get started! I’ve learned so much from you folks, even without having a Mac. You’re the best!! Ray

I’m a big fan of Ripple Training. I find the information is organized and delivered in a clear and concise manner. The index at the right always lets me know where I’m at and where I’m going. The placeholder helps during the numerous interruptions. The pacing is well done and I rarely have to go back a few frames. Perhaps new footage could be used next upgrade to make it a little fresher since I have already ‘made’ the promo in a previous version. No big deal. In the past, whenever I have needed clarification on a point, whomever I emailed responded within 24 hours with the information I was looking for. The one time I called, the person on the other end was very polite and professional showing a strong desire to help me out.

You can’t go wrong with Ripple Training.

Excellent tutorial for anyone wanting to fully understand FCPX. Great for those just starting or wanting to get to the next level.
I use FCPX for personal use (I’m not a professional) and had purchased the original Core Training tutorial. I know you have put a lot of work into producing this latest version but I am of two minds whether it is worth the upgrade cost, even at the discounted price. It is certainly worth the price if you haven’t already got the original version. Still, it has helped me refocus on what I should be doing and explained the new features in 10.3.

FCP 10.3 Core Training has really helped to get me get settled into working with FCP 10.3. Coming from my past use of iMovie it seemed pretty daunting to make the leap to a more “pro” video editing software but I’m really glad I took the time to dig deep and invest in a great training program from Ripple. I plan to jump to Ripple’s FCP 10.3 In-Depth and Media Management courses next. Thank you!

I am new to video editing and FCP. These tutorials are fun and easy to follow and understand. I feel much more confident using the software. I plan to get all the FCP sections as Ripple updates them for 10.3. I like having the ability to download the videos and being able to watch them offline. Highly recommended.

Over the summer I started working on a project with an editor who persuaded me to move from Avid MC to FCP. We recently finished the project and only now have I had some time to begin to more properly ‘acquaint myself’ with FCP. This training provided an excellent foundation in this regard and will definitely form the basis of a ‘reference guide’ that I refer back to going forward. Also great that all the training materials can be downloaded since I did a lot of the training on my laptop whilst on a work trip with limited internet access. Would thoroughly recommend the training both for those new to FCP as well as those with some experience of FCP or other editing systems.

Great tutorial. I own the same tutorial for FCP 10.2 and this one is up to the same high standards. It’s great for those looking to get a complete overview of FCPX from scratch or as a refresher course for users who are already familiar with FCPX and need to focus on a specific area that you have not used in a while.

You can always expect to learn something when you take one of Ripple Training’s courses. Steve did a great job of explaining all the details in FCP 10.3. Great training. I highly recommend this course for anyone that wants to improve their skills.

The 10.3 layout is quite different and without your latest tutorial it would have taken some time to locate the new positions. The overall tutorial is excellent and well worth the money just for the time savings alone, but there is much more to it than that. Highly recommended.

I love the Core Training, I had FCPX Core Training for 10.2; I upgraded to Core Training for 10.3 and was disappointed. I felt it was basically the same, which is not bad, but to charge $39.00 for the upgrade was not worth it.
So I just received an offer to upgrade the media management tutorial from 10.1 to 10.3, I will not be doing it.
That being said Ripple Training is great but for customers who already paid for the training I feel the upgrade is way to much for what you get in return.
5 stars for Core Training, 2 stars for upgrade.

Got through tutorial so quickly. Explanations and demos are clear and easy to follow through. Learned some tricks that I didn’t even know were part of the editing basics. Highly recommended for people who also have some experience on FCPX.
