This tutorial will help you create, modify and animate Motion’s particle emitters to create visual effects. Learn how to modify preset particle emitters; how to create particle emitters from scratch; and how to animate particles using both keyframes and behaviors.
Using Motion’s built in particle system, you can create particle effects from graphics, photos and even movies. You’ll learn how control the physics of your particles including their speed, gravity, direction and even their birth and death rates. Using the principles taught in this tutorial, you’ll be able to augment your visuals and/or create unique effects from scratch.
Particle systems are used in motion graphics, visual effects and gaming environments to simulate natural phenomena like smoke and fire. You’ll learn how to create backgrounds for titles and/or foregrounds for transitions and how to create effects like glowing trails and cascading images.
Particle emitters are cool enough in 2D, but get crazy cool when you flip the switch and turn them into 3D particles. We’ll show you how to work with a camera, lights and how to create compelling image sequences.

Did you see that flash? That was a light bulb going off in my head right now as I watch this exceptional update to the previous version of Creating Particle Effects in Motion. Anyone of these exercises imparts enough technical knowledge to cause one to stay up late creating serious Motion eye candy.
The presentation in this set of exercises seemingly removes any of the barriers that can plague a video tutorial, and offers education that is as close to having a guide in your immediate presence as possible.
Thanks AGAIN for sharing your knowledge with us Mark.
